“Texture” Photo Challenge!

For this week's photo challenge over at I Heart Faces, my mind just kept going back to this picture. This is my son, Deklan, when he was 4 weeks old. It was one of the first times we went outside together, and I brought his blanket that his Grandma knitted for him and laid him on it in the grass. It was such a beautiful sunny day, and he was wide awake and curious about my camera!

When I look at this picture, it makes me happy... So that's why I chose to enter it.

There's nothing like the soft texture of a comfy knitted blanket.

Go play along at I Heart Faces!

Have I ever mentioned....

... how crazy long my baby's eyelashes are?

I have?

How about how blue his eyes are..?

..That too?

Oh well.

It needs repeatin'. Because I just can't get over it.

5 months old!

My baby boy had his 5 month birthday 3 days ago. Why did I not take pictures and post then? Because I was attending a surprise birthday party for Ty's brother on Saturday! So the picture taking fun was postponed.

Today was a good day for pictures! My little buddy was full of giggles and ready to smile!

I think the last one is my favourite! I just love his eyes. They are so amazing!

He's almost half a year old already!! That is crazy. It seems like it was just yesterday he was 7 lbs, now he's 17 lbs! Chunky monkey.

He's getting really good at rolling over from his stomach to his back, he hasn't tried back to stomach yet, but it'll come I'm sure. He's got ridiculously strong legs, he loves his exersaucer that Grandma gave him for Christmas! He starts kicking and air jumping before I even get him in it, it's really hard to get his little legs down where they should be!

I'm taking bets as to when he'll start walking, personally I think he'll be walking by 9 months, he just seems to eager to take off and go!

We are so proud of our baby boy, he's added so much joy and love to our lives!

Outside with Deklan

My little guy has been having some rough nights lately.

He's teething (hence the drool) and at times he is inconsolable.

I guess, like every other parent, I have to ride this wave out.

It can't last forever.

These smiles make it all worth it, anyways.

Happy Birthday I Heart Faces!

I Heart Faces is one year old! To celebrate, Angie & Amy have issued a challenge to submit our best face photos, from either December 2009 or early January 2010.

Deklan and I were outside playing in the snow today, because it's so gorgeous and sunny! I was sitting in the snow, and Deklan was on my lap, and I had to contort my body to a really funny angle to be able to take this photo! My little buddy was very cooperative, especially because he's sick with a cold and on top of that is teething!

I just love his eyes. They are so ridiculously blue!

Happy Birthday I Heart Faces, and many happy returns!

A story.

Once upon a time (perhaps it was yesterday, perhaps it was last week... who knows?) there was a little baby boy who was unhappy. He wasn't unhappy all the time, just at that particular moment.

And in that moment, he knew exactly what he wanted... what would make him happy. So he called out, beseechingly.

The one who was holding him tried to placate him for a while, but no cheese. He refused to gnaw upon the metaphorical pacifier.

So, he was borne with much ceremony to the one who he wanted, and made a rather glorious and not at all awkward landing right upon her lap.

And everything was as it should be.

The End.

An iheartfaces celebration!

I had all kinds of great ideas and plans for this week's challenge, but life and sickness kind of got in the way a bit. The holidays always get me ill, I don't know why.

So, I went back through my recent photos, picked out a few of my favourites, and added the ifaces logo to them!

My son, on his 4 month birthday December 16th.

My lovely sister, last November.

My husband and son, a few days before Christmas.

This is the only photo that I didn't add the logo to... yesterday at my Mom's house, I convinced my little sisters to let me draw on them with a black and a red permanent marker, and they posed for me! I told them not to look like dorks, and so they made these lovely faces for me.
